Scientists from Columbia University and the University of California, San Diego, have developed a new method to explore quantum materials. The technique is inspired by the “multi-messenger” approach of astrophysics. This approach uses multiple messengers like gravitational waves, neutrinos, cosmic rays etc to understand space events. In a similar approach scientists used multi modal nanoscience tools to study quantum materials. They focused the laser light on the needle tip probe coated with magnetic material to study the properties of quantum materials at ultra-small scales. The technique is considered as a huge leap in the technology and will allow scientists to explore the distant quantum materials that no one would have imagined five years ago.
