The meteorite estimated to be about 15 meters in diameter and weighing around 14,000 tonnes formed the Wolfe Creek Crater around 120,000 years ago. This study helped to figure out how frequently such events occur on the earth. Researchers have used created a new 3-D topographical model of the crater using aerial photographs. Using this technique, researchers also recalculated the age of Meteor Crater in Arizona.
