Physicists Have Finally Witnessed Light Flowing Like A River

For the first time, physicists from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Israel and the University of Central Florida have witnessed light flowing like a river using a soap bubble as the medium. Physicists used a soap membrane consisting of a very thin film of liquid and sandwiched it between two layers of surfactant molecules. The thickness of this film deviates quite extensively, from around five nanometres to a few micrometers and produces the colorful patterns in soap bubbles.  However, they can also act as the disturbances that deflect light inflow, causing that flow to split and branch. This phenomenon could now be used to explore other physical phenomena, too, including some aspects of general relativity.
