The Big Bang Theory describes how the universe began. It states that the universe as we know it originated with a little singularity, then expanded over the next 13.8 billion years. Because current devices don’t allow astronomers to look back at the universe’s birth, much of what we learn about the Big Bang Theory evolves from mathematical formulas and models. The slogan “Big Bang Theory” has been famous among astronomers for decades, but it knocked the mainstream in 2007 when a comedy show with the same title telecast on television.
