Using Artificial Intelligence To Improve GPS Navigation

Researchers from MIT and Qatar Computing Research have developed an AI model called “RoadTagger” that uses only satellite images to automatically navigate the number of lanes and provide the updated information on road conditions. RoadTagger uses a combination of neural network architectures namely convolutional neural network (CNN) and a graph neural network (GNN) for advanced navigation. The researchers hope to use RoadTagger to help people to provide more details to the drivers in unfamiliar locations, especially in countries with limited map data.
