This Material Could Help To Clean-up Chernobyl and Fukushima Nuclear Stations

Scientists from the University of Sheffield in collaboration with colleagues in Ukraine have developed materials that could be used to help decommission the Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear power stations.  The team developed the close approximation of a real LFCMs- a dangerous substance that poses a serious threat to the local environment after the nuclear meltdown. Since the clean-up of Chernobyl and Fukushima will take years to recover from nuclear radiation, therefore such methods to speed up the clean-up process will eventually help Ukraine and Japan, in both financial and safety terms.
