In the large spectrum of things, we may not know much about the universe. But, if there is
one thing that we know it is that the universe if filled with unusual celestial objects, most of
them which we may not even know about. Every astronomer in the world believes in the
theory of existence of extraterrestrial life outside earth. Where did this theory of existence
of aliens come into play you ask? Well, a little bit of credit goes to us. Humans for
centuries have observed strange things in the skies. This list includes UFO’s, monsters,
beautiful lights, and many others.
Over the years, the number of unusual sights observed in the sky keeps increasing. While
there are no proofs or explanations for all these phenomena, they do happen. We have
compiled quite an interesting list of strange observations that were observed in our skies
over a long period.
Ireland UFO
The first thing that might have popped up on your mind after reading the title of this article
was surely UFOs. And you were right. This list would not have been completed without
mentioning UFOs at least a few times. Well, the first UFO in this list was observed in
Ireland in November 2018 by a British Airways plane. When the pilot first spotted the bright
lights, she inquired for any military exercises because something was “moving so fast”.
Another pilot from another airplane also witnessed “multiple objects following the same
sort of trajectory”. Apart from the UFO theory, there were several others involving shooting
stars or asteroids. The truth is still a mystery.
Light Pillars
In January 2019, Ontario, Canada saw multiple coloured light beams in the sky. These
beautiful light pillars looked like northern lights. It left thousands of people in awe and
confused as well. However, there is a very scientific reason behind these light pillars.
Because of the cold, lights were being reflected from the earth’s orbit. While it looks the
pillars are going towards the sky in the pictures, the reality is the opposite.
Kecksburg UFO
Kecksburg UFO is quite a popular incident that took place on 9th December, 1995 at the
village kecksburg, Pennsylvania. A fireball was reported by thousands of civilians in US
states Michigan, Detroit and Windsor, Canada. The speculation ranged from alien crafts to
debris from a meteor. However, the site inspection was unsuccessful. There is also a
model displayed of the alleged object that crashed in the Kecksburg village.
God Spotted in the Clouds
During a powerful storm in the town of Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2018 that took out the
power of many households, one person was busy taking a video. What this person did not
realise that they were capturing one of the strangest sights in the sky. When Solo Solo (the
person who took the video) shared her video with friends and family, they noticed a man
like figure walking in the clouds. The video went viral on social media and people believed
that it was god watching them from above. Of course, there were skeptics who believed
that it was just an edited video or some sort of a scientific phenomenon, but most people
took it as the former.
Mothman
The next mystery has been ongoing since the year 1966. It originated from Point Pleasant
West Virginia. Mothman is considered to be a sign that something very terrible is about to
happen. Not long after it was first spotted, the Silver Bridge collapsed. Some people have
even claimed to spot it before the 9/11. The most recent incident was reported in 2017 and
2018 in the windy city. While many people have said to see it in the sky, there were 55
people that claimed to have seen it flying under a plane in the same area. They all
described it as a bat like creature with red glowing eyes.
Toronto Light Show
In 2014, the city of Toronto noticed some strange lights floating high above. The colourful
lights were in a perfectly synchronised diagonal line and reflected the colours pink, green
and white in the night sky. While it’s a high-rise city, it’s not that unusual to see lights in the
sky. However, what made this strange is that no one could ever find the source.
Strange Balloon
In July of 2018 in Florida, reports started coming in about a ballon like anomaly in the sky.
People were scared of either it being a military testing or an alien invasion. However, it
was later proved to be a SpaceX rocket launch that came from Cape Canaveral Air Force
Station. The most interesting thing about it was its shape, some claimed they saw a giant
balloon while some said it was a popsicle or a heart.
Flying Meat
This is probably the most unbelievable incident in the list, yes, even stranger than seeing
god walking in the clouds. In March of 1876, fresh meat (most probably venison or mutton)
fell from the sky in Kentucky. It mostly fell around the house of a couple where the wife
noticed the meat lying all around. The story even made it to The New York Times
Scientists speculated that the meat may have been projectile vomit from vultures or
cyanobacteria that may have collected in a water source nearby.
Floating City
Most astrophile’s may have watched NASA’s live stream from the ISS and glimpsed
something completely out of this world. However, sometimes if anything interesting
happens, the feed cuts out. To understand this in depth, we have to go back to 2015’s
China when people saw a large golden floating city in the sky. While there were not
shortages of witnesses, nothing much was done about it. However, there were some
people watching the live feed who also noticed something golden in the outer space.
Before anything more could happen, the feed was cut stating technical issues. It is hence
speculated that NASA was trying to hide something.
The Norway Spiral
On December 9, 2009, people of Norway a strange blue spiral looking light above their
homes. The first theory speculated were obviously aliens. However, people were too quick
to judge. After a bit of investigation, Russia was found to be the real culprit that caused the
blue spiral. While the Russians did not claim responsibility at first, it was found out through
an anonymous source that it was a failed launch from a submarine.
