Scientists Have Built The First-Ever Robots Using Living Cells

A team of experts from Tufts University, US, has developed xenobots, tiny robots built from frog skin and heart cells that can walk, work together, and repair themselves. Researchers have used the algorithms that determine the configurations of frog cells, which are then constructed by humans to produce a living robot that the scientists have called a xenobot. These novel living machines live for up to seven days, and the team believes that in the future they can be used to transfer drugs into people’s bloodstreams, clean up microplastics from the ocean, or tackle radioactive waste leakage.
