Astronomers think they may have discovered the first direct proof of a new planet being born. A thick disc of dust and gas has been found encircling a young star called AB Aurigae, about 520 light-years away from Earth. The researchers witnessed a spiral composition with a “twist” near the center using the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope (VLT), located in Chile, which indicates a new world may be in the process of developing. As of now, astronomers had been unable to take clear pictures of young discs to see these twists. However, researchers can now say that they are likely able to catch a planet in the process of development.
