Researchers in Norway are observing how salmon in a commercial fish farm would respond for being constantly monitored by underwater robots. Most of the fish farms still require proper attention to assure the captive fish remain in a safe and healthy environment. To achieve this, the team used two different underwater robots, a boxy jet-ski-sized machine called Argus Mini and a smaller robot called U-CAT, to monitor the response of fishes. They observed that fish appeared to be most comfortable with the smaller U-CAT robot rather than a human diver or the Argus Mini. The findings indicate that fish seem to be most comfortable with smaller ones, regardless of whether machine or human.
