A new study may help to unlock one of the universe’s biggest puzzles. Why is there more matter than antimatter? After the Big Bang, cosmic expansion expanded the tiny seed of our universe and converted energy into matter. Using the theoretical models and predictions, researchers have suggested that the transition would have produced extremely long and extremely thin threads of energy called “cosmic strings” that still diffuse the universe. These cosmic strings would most likely produce very slight ripples in space-time called gravitational waves and by detecting these gravitational waves, we can explore whether this hypothesis is true
