An Australian fusion startup called HB11 has claimed to discover the most simplified and significantly cheaper nuclear fusion technology, that could revolutionize the nuclear power industry. The technique uses hydrogen and a boron B-11 isotope rather than using extremely rare and expensive radioactive isotopes such as tritium. Unlike previous methods, the HB11 technique for creating fusion energy ensures complete safety as it does not rely on radioactive fuel and leaves zero toxic radioactive waste. Moreover, the reactor can be established in densely populated areas, without any fear of a catastrophic meltdown. Although the new technique sounds quite promising, the startup still has a lot to prove to transform their innovative idea into a commercial reality.
