In a clinical trial, the drug, which obstructs the body’s strength to make the protein, decreased people’s levels of lipoprotein(a) by as much as 80 percent.To decide if the drug is useful at lessening the risk of heart attack and stroke, a phase III clinical trial, run by Novartis Pharmaceuticals of Basel, Switzerland, has started selecting participants.
