New AI to help you make verses from your favorite rappers

If you’ve ever thought of making your own song that features world-renowned rappers such as Eminem or Kendrick Lamar, this AI tool called Uberduck is all you need to check out. This new tool might help you satisfy the musician in you.

Uberduck is a tool that enables a user to choose a celebrity voice and then enter text for them to speak. What makes this tool stand out from other tools is its ability to do a great job at replicating a rapper’s flow.

Make songs featuring your favorite musicians

The AI tool also allows you to synthesize speech into a “calm” or “intense” Tupac verse. The creator of the tool says they started building the system with the aim to create an open-minded dialog agent.

“I built an interactive audio chatbot over WebRTC that generated text responses with a Transformer model and synthesized them to audio, but I found that speech synthesis was the most exciting part of the project.”

The tool didn’t work on TikTok after a lawsuit forced the app to change its text-to-speech voice. Users weren’t happy with the fact and made a switch to Uberduck. They’ve managed to use the tool in many creative ways. Even Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda used the tool to make his own song featuring Notorious B.I.G.

Can this tool be used for defamation?

The synthesized voices aren’t perfect, but by tweaking the text such as adding extra vowels in order to extend a syllable, it’s possible to produce a pretty accurate imitation of your favorite rappers.

But there might be a downside to it as well. The tool does have the potential to be used for disinformation and defamation. Uberduck’s terms and conditions try to curb such practices. Users aren’t allowed to use the outputs for commercial purposes or the production of defamatory material.

Users must also clarify that their creations are made with help of an AI, and will be banned if the rules are violated. Additionally, the tool’s creator says they’ll remove voices from the site upon request.
