NASA Data Shows Uranus Is Literally Leaking Gas Into Space

NASA scientists investigating decades-old data from the Voyager 2 spacecraft have revealed that the atmosphere of Uranus is leaking out into space. When Voyager 2 encountered Uranus in 1986, it seems to have crossed through something called a plasmoid, a massive blob of plasma. Based on the data collected by Voyager 2, NASA believes that the plasmoid itself was about 127,000 miles long and twice as wide. However, its still not clear how Uranus’ atmospheric escape has impacted the planet so far, as scientists only got a little glimpse of this event. But more research will surely help to get some answers.
