Mysterious Repeating Fast Radio Burst Traced To Nearby Spiral Galaxy

The origin of short, dramatic bursts of lights called Fast Radio Bursts or FRBs has remained a puzzling mystery among astronomers. These radio bursts appear only for milliseconds at a time and only four such Fast Radio Bursts (FRB) have been spotted so far. Now astronomers have traced the origin of a newly discovered repeating radio bursts to a nearby spiral galaxy similar to our own Milky Way. The galaxy is half a billion light-years from Earth.  The burst was spotted by a group of eight radio telescopes. Astronomers are hoping to find the origin of more FRBs and will carry further research to reveal the reasons that cause the formation of these mysterious flashes.
