A new study suggests that some of the remarkably low-density “cotton candy-like ” exoplanets called super-puffs may have rings. Super-puffs planets are known for their extremely large radii which provides them incredibly low densities. Researchers used high-precision instruments to see how a ringed exoplanet would transit in front of its host star and observed that their rings could explain some of the super-puffs that has been discovered by NASA’s Kepler mission. Their further observations will depend on the data from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, which is set to launch next year as the existing telescopes are unable to provide precise data.
