However, this is the first time researchers analyzed the slab of the meteorite and confirmed the first natural occurrence of a rare form of iron-carbide mineral that’s never been found in nature. They named it ‘Edscottite’ in honor of meteorite expert Edward Scott, for his extraordinary contributions to meteorite research.
