A group of researchers thinks that Mars may have been home to hot springs in the past. Researcher Dorothy Oehler and his team from the Institute of Planetary Science in the state of Arizona, USA, resembled the images of specific areas of Mars with few areas from Earth and concluded that Mars may have hot springs in the past. These oval-shaped areas have been detected inside a crater on Mars, its irregular shapes and their bright concentric ellipses led the researchers to conclude that they might be the areas where fluid leaks from underground. Researchers believe that understanding the water cycle of mars is important as it will be crucial for future manned missions.
