Largest Gaseous Structure Ever Seen In Milky Way Galaxy Is Discovered

Astronomers from Harvard University have uncovered the largest uniform, wave-shaped gaseous structure made up of interconnected stellar nurseries. The research team used the data from the European Space Agency’s Gaia spacecraft and constructed a detailed, 3D map of interstellar matter in the Milky Way. They noticed an unexpected pattern in the spiral arm closest to Earth. The long and thin structure is about 9,000 light-years long and 400 light-years wide. The new, 3D map has provided the improvised theory of the Milky Way and opened the door to other major discoveries.
