Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide, contributing 2 million of the total number of new cases diagnosed last year. But an artificial intelligence model has given hope to thousands of women who have to go through mental trauma of breast cancer screening despite being healthy. The current breast cancer screening method is a bit inaccurate and often results in false positive and false negative which can lead to delay in detection and treatment. Researchers have found that the AI model can predict breast cancer from the X rays with greater accuracy than human experts without analyzing its medical history. The team said further research is required but they believe the AI could one day reduce the huge workload of radiologists who are already in short supply.
