European Space Telescope To Study Alien Planets

A new European Space Agency (ESA) telescope has launched, designed to study planets beyond the Solar System – known as exoplanets – and usher in a new era of exoplanet science. The agency has launched Characterising Exoplanet Satellite from Kourou in French Guiana on 17 December that will help us understand the exoplanets that have already been discovered. ESA’s CHEOPS is a comparatively small observatory, covering about 1.5 meters on each side. With the CHEOPS mission securely in orbit, astronomers are now keen for the first science outcomes from the mission after it starts its investigations in  2020.
