Earth’s Mantle May Have Generated The Early Magnetic Field

Researchers from the University of California, San Diego have published new research that claims that it could have been the Mantle that created Earth’s magnetic field and not the core. The Earth’s magnetic field protects us from solar radiation and has also been the source of navigation.  However, the researchers believe it wasn’t always the core that created the magnetic field. In earlier research, scientists Dave Stegman and Leah Ziegler had proposed that the mantle was not always entirely solid. Researchers further alleged it might have been the silicate-rich mantle that created Earth’s magnetic field. Now, Stegman and Ziegler’s work, with Nicolas Blanc have proposed a new evaluation of the theory which has already been supported by two recently published studies.
