Earth Day 2021- FB to host for climate change on 22 April

Earth Day 2021 is about to arrive soon to make us all even more aware of the growing climatic changes. So, to reach out to a larger audience, Facebook has stepped forward to talk about climate change on the upcoming earth day 2021. To support Facebook in its endeavor, the University of Yale has partnered with it. They together surveyed more than 30 countries and regions regarding the upcoming earth day 2021. The shocking revelations that came from the survey were that despite being aware of dramatic climatic changes occurring; only a few people act positively towards it.

Earth Day 2021 Oculus– virtual reality

For the upcoming earth day 2021, Facebook has also an interesting Earth Day Programming on Oculus. With Oculus, users can enjoy tours of places like Machu Picchu, Antarctica, Kenya, Borneo, and Raja Ampat through virtual reality. Not just this, even the National Geographic channel has also come on board to offer videos of national parks for virtual tours on messenger service.

The other activities that Facebook is fostering for earth day are planting trees, raising funds for climatic causes, shopping environmental-friendly products from eco-organizations. Environmental Organizations like Jaden Smith, Coldplay x One Tree Planted Merch, the solutions project, and Adrian Grenier’s Lonely Whale. Not just this, to celebrate Earth Day 2021, even WhatsApp has a new sticker pack called “Stand up for Earth” ready for the upcoming event.

In an official statement to many channels, Facebook said “The event will include world leaders, public figures, grassroots activists, musicians and more talking about climate action and ways we can all get involved.”

Facebook also said “Today we’re announcing that as of 2020, Facebook’s operations are supported by 100% renewable energy and have reached net-zero emissions. In just the last three years, we have reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by 94%, exceeding our 75% reduction goal”. The Organization said this to show its sincere efforts towards the environment and shoulder corporate social responsibility.
