An Australian team of scientists along with their colleagues at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology has used computer models to more accurately identify the sources of arsenic pollution and to better predict how fast arsenic pollution is spreading in groundwater resources that are used for drinking water production. Scientists used a field site in Vietnam to study and test the computer simulations. Arsenic is flavorless and odor-free and often unknowingly consumed by tens of millions of people across the world. If consumed over long periods it can cause serious health hazards in countries such as Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, and so on.
