Scientists have recently observed an unusual behavior of some male chimpanzees who were picking up a rock and throwing it at trees. Scientists found it weird but the new study revealed that the chimps throw rocks at trees to create a richer, longer-lasting sound. Later, researchers performed the same chimp process of throwing rocks and recorded the experiment and concluded that chimps’ throw rocks at the trees to create lower and longer-lasting sound. However, researchers say this behavior could also be a demonstration of male dominance because all the rock throwers are adult males.
