Black Moon 2020 : Here’s What You Need to Know Now

Celestial objects often appear and go from our sight in the night sky, as they fling by or orbit around the Sun.  The new Moon has risen on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 10:41 p.m. EDT, however, this month’s new Moon was extra special as it was considered a Black Moon. These occur once every 33 months. The new Moon is an excellent opportunity to witness other celestial objects in the night sky as the light coming from the Moon will be too faint to interfere with the light coming from stars, galaxies, and planets. The next annual Black Moon will happen on May 19, 2023.
