Balloon-Lofted Camera Developed to Trace Alien Planet Aces First Flight

Direct imaging of alien planets is quite difficult and often done using massive telescopes from the earth. Now, the invention of Astronomer Christopher Mendillo and his colleagues could help to capture it precisely from a massive balloon. They developed a balloon-lofted instrument named PICTURE-C which has already made its successful test flight in September 2019 and even managed to capture a meteor through its on-board camera. Excited by the outcomes, the team is now working on challenges that PICTURE-C experienced during its test flight. PICTURE-C will make its next flight in September and also inspired NASA to use this technology for its future missions in the 2030s.
