Astronomers Discovered Ultraviolet Emission Centered On The Big Dipper

Researchers have discovered a ghostly, perfectly round, arc of ultraviolet emission concentrated on the handle of the Big Dipper and ranging 30 degrees over the Northern sky. A group of global researchers has identified this unusual object using the data from NASA’s Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) as part of the GALEX All-Sky Imaging Survey. Moreover, the origin of the energy and the arc shape suggests elevating shock waves from a stellar explosion or supernova which happened 60 degrees above the plane of the Milky Way Galaxy.
