Antarctica’s Denman Glacier Is Falling Into The World’s Deepest Canyon

As the global temperature increases, some of the great ice caps and glaciers in Antarctica are melting, a few of them rapidly.  East Antarctica’s Denman glacier has shrunk nearly 3 miles in just the past 22 years.Researchers noticed these drastic changes using more than 20 years of satellite data to monitor the ice in Denman Glacier. The researchers observed that Denman’s western side not only shrunk nearly 3 miles (5 km) between 1996 and 2018 but that a deep canyon below the glacier is triggering the glacier to melt faster. Researchers have alarmed that the shape of the ground surface under the ice sheet could make it even more sensitive to climate-driven destruction.
