A team of engineers from Cornell University has discovered that photovoltaic wafers in solar panels with all-perovskite structures outperform photovoltaic cells manufactured from state-of-the-art crystalline silicon, as well as perovskite-silicon tandem cells, which are piled up like pancake-style cells that consume light properly. Apart from providing a faster return on the initial energy investment than silicon-based solar panels, all-perovskite solar cells lessen climate change because they utilize less energy in the production. Researchers have claimed that perovskite cells are promising and have great potential to become cheaper, more energy-efficient, scalable, and longer-lasting.
