Astronomers have recently detected the funnelling of matter into a growing star that occurs at different rates over time as per the rotating disc of gas and dust theory. Sometimes a rotating disc of gas and dust funnels materials into the growing star, resulting in a burst in the massive star. This event is known as an accretion burst event. Only three such rare events have been observed so far, out of all the billions of massive stars in the Milky Way. Researchers believe such a celestial event shows how valuable it is to have eyes in the sky from different corners of the world and considered collaboration crucial for such new important discoveries.
