Despite the decline in coal consumption, global greenhouse gas emissions are projected to grow slightly during 2019, reaching another record high, according to new research published on Tuesday.  There has been an increase in the consumption of oil and particularly natural gas. Natural gas is now the biggest contributor to the rise in CO2 emissions. As the globe has warmed 1.1 degrees Celsius since the late 19th century, 2019 witnessed a series of volcanoes, drought, wildfires, and flooding due to climate change. Researchers claim that natural gas is a cleaner fossil fuel as compared to coal, but the constant use of natural gas will not help to reverse trends in global emissions.
