Smart speakers running Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Siri are the latest trend but also come with a potential security threats. Studies reveal that these devices can be easily hacked by using a laser pointer. Micro-electro-mechanical systems set in the speaker mics help to convert the light as sound.  As smart speakers are programmed to use smart locks, smart alarms, etc this could be easily used for trespassing as well as misused through voice commands. This threat could be reduced by installing multiple mics and voice recognition technology. However, these threats might not be practical in the current scenario but hackers might use them in the future.
